KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik put the disappointment of narrowly missing out at last week's Malaysia Open behind them to march into the second round of the India Open on Wednesday.
Aaron-Wooi Yik made quick progress after junior pair Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing conceded the match midway through the second game due to a backache sustained by Aaron, with the two-time Olympic bronze medallists holding an 11-6 lead.
The second seeds had earlier taken the opening game 21-12.
Aaron-Wooi Yik will next face compatriots Wan Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King or Japan's Takumi Nomura-Yuichi Shimogami for a place in the quarter-finals.
This is Aaron-Wooi Yik's fourth successive appearance at the tournament, and the pair will be hoping to finally go one better after finishing runners-up in 2023 and reaching the semi-finals in the following two editions.
