KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik moved to within one match of ending the nation's wait for a first Malaysia Open crown in eight years at the Axiata Arena on Saturday.
World No. 2 Aaron-Wooi Yik downed Indonesia's world No. 6 Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri 23-21, 21-18 in a last four clash that lasted 50 minutes.
Aaron-Wooi Yik will meet defending champions Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae in the final after the South Koreans came from behind to beat England's world No. 16 Ben Lane-Sean Vendy 8-21, 21-11, 21-18 in a 58-minute battle.
