Malaysia is assured of a place in the men’s doubles semi-finals at the All England Open as Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik prepare to face compatriots Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash in Birmingham.

Malaysia is guaranteed representation in the men’s doubles semi-finals at the All England Open after two of the nation’s top pairs set up an all-Malaysian quarter-final showdown in Birmingham.

World No. 2 Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik will face fellow Malaysians Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, ensuring that one Malaysian pair will progress to the final four at the prestigious tournament held at the Utilita Arena Birmingham.

The upcoming match will be the eighth meeting between the two pairs. Aaron and Wooi Yik currently hold a slight edge in the rivalry with four wins from their previous seven encounters, including victories in their most recent meetings at last year’s Singapore Open and China Open quarter-finals.

For Wei Chong and Kai Wun, reaching this stage marks an important milestone. The world No. 6 pair advanced to the quarter-finals with a convincing 21-14, 21-18 victory over Taiwan’s Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Wang Chi Lin. The result represents their best performance at the All England after three straight first-round exits in previous appearances.

Wei Chong explained that the pair approached this year’s tournament with less pressure and focused on enjoying their game, which helped them perform more freely despite dealing with a lingering injury.

Meanwhile, Aaron and Wooi Yik secured their place in the last eight after overcoming compatriots Wan Arif Junaidi and Yap Roy King in a competitive three-game match. The experienced pair eventually prevailed 21-15, 18-21, 21-18 to keep their title hopes alive.

While national pride will be on display in the quarter-final, the winner will also carry Malaysia’s hopes of ending a long wait for the All England men’s doubles crown. The last Malaysian pair to lift the title were Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in 2007.

With both pairs familiar with each other’s playing styles from years of training together, the upcoming clash promises to be a closely contested battle as Malaysia looks to move one step closer to another historic triumph at badminton’s oldest tournament.
