Teenager Mirra Andreeva produced another breakthrough performance, rallying from a difficult start to win the Upper Austria Ladies Linz title after defeating Anastasia Potapova in a hard-fought final.
The match initially tilted in Potapova’s favour, as she raced through the opening set 6-1 and even carried momentum into the early stages of the second. But Andreeva gradually found her rhythm, adjusting her tactics and increasing her consistency as the match progressed.
Once she settled, Andreeva took control of the contest, turning the momentum sharply in her favour to complete a comeback victory in just under two hours. Her ability to stay composed under pressure proved decisive as she overpowered Potapova in the final stages.
The win marks Andreeva’s second title of the 2026 season, following her earlier triumph in Adelaide, and brings her career tally to five WTA titles. It also places her among a small group of players who have already claimed multiple trophies this year, underlining her rapid rise on the tour.
Beyond the result, the final highlighted her growing maturity in managing difficult match situations. Even when trailing, Andreeva continued to search for solutions and gradually shifted the match dynamics in her favour.
Despite the defeat, Potapova enjoyed a notable week in Linz, reaching the final while competing as an Austrian representative for the first time. Her run was warmly received by the home crowd and marked a significant moment in her career transition.
For Andreeva, however, the story remains one of continued progression. Another title, another comeback, and another reminder that she is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous young players on the WTA Tour.
