- The entire 2027-2028 calendar prioritizes player welfare with extended windows and will feature the exciting new 3x15 scoring system.
The changes for Malaysia's flagship tournaments are substantial. After kicking off 2024 from January 6-11, the Malaysia Open, a premier Super 1000 event, will see a significant extension and later start. In 2027, it will captivate audiences over 11 days from January 21-31. For 2028, it’s slated for February 3-13, maintaining its extended format.
The Malaysia Masters, a crucial Super 500 tournament, also navigates a new timeline. While held in May this year, it will move to August 17-22 in 2027. Looking ahead to 2028, it shifts back to a June 6-11 slot, offering new strategic considerations for players aiming for peak performance.
A Triad of Malaysian Tournaments Emerges
Beyond the established giants, Malaysia is set to become an even bigger hub for international badminton. The new BWF World Tour calendar confirms the addition of a Malaysia S100 tournament. This new event is scheduled for October 19-24 in 2027 and October 17-22 in 2028, ensuring Malaysian fans get even more top-tier action throughout the year.
