The Carrick Effect: Unpacking United's Revival
The roar is back at Old Trafford, and according to rising star Amad, it's all thanks to the quiet revolution engineered by interim boss Michael Carrick. The Manchester United winger has pulled back the curtain on the incredible turnaround, crediting Carrick for revitalizing the squad's spirit and performance.
Key Points:
- Since taking charge, Michael Carrick has guided Manchester United to 10 wins in 14 games, with Amad praising his leadership and positive relationships with players.
- Amad highlighted a major cultural shift in the dressing room, saying the squad now plays with togetherness and no longer fears mistakes.
- He credited Carrick and his coaching staff, including Travis Binnion, for bringing improved energy and stability throughout the team.
- With Champions League qualification secured, Amad and the squad are reportedly keen for Carrick to remain manager next season.
A new era under Michael Carrick
Amad described how Manchester United have improved since Michael Carrick took over on January 13. The interim boss has stabilised results with 10 wins, two draws, and two defeats from 14 matches, with Amad playing an important role in the turnaround.
The winger said he has enjoyed working under him, stating: "I enjoy a lot playing with him [Carrick]. Honestly, he’s a good guy, talking with everyone, having good relationships with every player. That is something that helps a lot."
Building a unified dressing room
Amad highlighted the stronger togetherness in the squad as the biggest change at the club. The Ivorian, who has made 30 appearances this season with two goals and three assists, said players now feel more confident and less afraid of mistakes. "I think the biggest change maybe is because the team is now more impactful. In the dressing room, we are really together, every mistake is not a problem, your mistake is my mistake, so we are a team that doesn’t care if you make a mistake, you go again, so we go forward, we want to win as a team," he explained.
The influence of the coaching staff
He also credited the wider coaching team for boosting energy and morale across the squad during a demanding season in which he has played 2,173 minutes. "That’s something that changed the team, and I think it’s also because of Michael Carrick and his staff, don’t forget also Trav [interim assistant Travis Binnion], and the other staff. They are really important for the team, and they bring that kind of energy to the team, and that is very important," he added.
Looking ahead to next season
With Champions League qualification already secured, attention now turns to the managerial future. Amad made his stance clear: "Everyone is happy to have him as manager. Everyone is with him... we will be happy if we have him next season as manager."
