When Cheah Liek Hou steps onto the court, winning is expected—and he delivered once again at the Spanish Para Badminton International in Toledo. The Malaysian superstar captured both the men’s singles and doubles titles, showcasing his skill, adaptability, and relentless drive for excellence.
In the men’s singles SU5 category, world No.1 Liek Hou overcame Taiwan’s world No.3 Fang Jen Yu in straight sets, 21-19, 21-16. After a tight first game, Liek Hou increased the pressure and closed out the match with authority. Having recently defeated Fang Jen Yu to claim his ninth world title in Bahrain, Liek Hou’s repeat victory in Spain underscores his dominance in the SU5 class. His coach, Nova Armada, said the singles title “was never in doubt,” highlighting the focus and preparation behind the triumph.
Liek Hou then returned to the court for the men’s doubles, partnering with Brazil’s Yuki Roberto Rodrigues. The new pairing proved unstoppable, defeating Taiwan’s Fang Jen Yu-Pu Gui Yu 21-11, 21-15. With his usual partner, Faris Ahmad Azri, unavailable due to ranking points, the quick decision to pair with Rodrigues paid off. The duo’s chemistry and Liek Hou’s adaptability were key factors in securing his second gold of the tournament.
This double victory not only adds to Cheah Liek Hou’s growing medal collection but also reinforces his legacy as one of para badminton’s greatest competitors. With every win, he continues to set the standard for excellence in the SU5 category and inspire the next generation of players.
