Chinese tennis player Pang Renlong, who competed in Hong Kong last year, has received a 12-year ban and a US$110,000 fine for match-fixing spanning 22 matches over five months.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) reported that Pang admitted to fixing five of his own matches in lower-level tournaments and making “corrupt approaches” to players in 11 additional matches, six of which were also manipulated.

The misconduct occurred from May to September 2024. During this period, the 25-year-old participated in ITF tournaments across Turkey, Hong Kong, and mainland China, and lost in qualifying at the ATP Challenger Jinan Open in China.

In August 2024, Pang played in the ITF Men’s 25 tournament in Causeway Bay, losing 6-0, 6-2 to South Korea’s Shin Woo-bin, then ranked 697th in the world.

Officials did not specify which matches were fixed. Pang, who reached a career-high ranking of 1,316th last year, will be barred from tennis until 2036, including time already served under provisional suspension. Of the US$110,000 fine, US$70,000 is suspended.

He is prohibited from participating in, coaching at, or attending any events organized by major tennis bodies or national federations.

Last week, the ITIA also announced that French player Quentin Folliot received a 20-year ban for match-fixing and recruiting other players “on behalf of a match-fixing syndicate,” becoming the sixth player banned for alleged involvement with the group.
