National women's doubles shuttler Dania Sofea Zaidi enjoyed an encouraging return to competition after recovering from a serious knee injury, reaching the final in her first tournament back since undergoing ACL surgery.
The 19-year-old had been sidelined for almost a year after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee last September, an injury that required surgery and months of rehabilitation. Her return marks a significant milestone after a long and challenging recovery process.
Competing at the Manila Open alongside new partner Carmen Ting, Dania exceeded expectations by advancing all the way to the final. Although the Malaysian pair fell just short of lifting the title, their impressive run provided an encouraging start to Dania's comeback.
Dania admitted she was delighted simply to be back on court after months of rehabilitation, describing the experience as a rewarding moment following one of the toughest periods of her career.
The former World Junior Championships silver medallist said the injury tested her mentally as much as physically. Spending months away from competition taught her the importance of patience and discipline while working towards a return.
