Diogo Moreira produced an impressive ride in the Aragon Sprint, charging from 10th to seventh while battling for the top five and overcoming late rear tyre wear to equal his best Sprint finish.

Diogo Moreira continued his impressive progress at the Aragon Grand Prix, charging from 10th on the grid to finish seventh in Saturday’s Sprint and equal his best result in the format.

The Pro Honda LCR rider secured a place in Q2 during qualifying before making a strong getaway in the Sprint. Moreira quickly settled into the battle and showed the pace to challenge for a place inside the top five.

The Brazilian remained composed throughout the race, particularly in the braking zones where he felt especially strong.

“I was strong in the braking areas, I was able to always brake hard,” Moreira said.

Moreira also enjoyed his return to the Aragon circuit, saying the layout suited his riding style and allowed him to push with confidence.

“Today it was a good one! I enjoyed the Sprint a lot. I like this track, and it’s easy for me to have fun here,” he said.

The rookie maintained his concentration and avoided mistakes as he fought among the leading riders. However, the rear tyre began to lose performance during the final three laps, forcing Moreira to focus on bringing the bike home while protecting his position.

Despite the late challenge, he continued to push until the finish and secured seventh place, collecting valuable championship points.

“I struggled with the rear tyre wear during the last three laps, but I managed to survive and take some points!” Moreira said.

The result gives Moreira another confidence boost in his rookie MotoGP campaign, while matching his best Sprint finish so far.
