Diogo Moreira continued his steady progress at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, ending Friday just four tenths off the fastest time after narrowly missing direct qualification for Q2.

Diogo Moreira delivered another encouraging performance for Pro Honda LCR on Friday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, finishing 14th overall and showing strong pace throughout the day.

The Brazilian rider clocked a best lap of 1:39.174 and remained competitive from the opening session, ending the morning in 11th before slipping slightly to 14th in the afternoon Practice.

Despite missing out on a direct Q2 place, Moreira was only 0.4 seconds behind the fastest rider, highlighting the tight competition and the progress made by both rider and team.

Moreira revealed he came close to breaking into the top 10 on multiple occasions but was ultimately denied by a costly mistake during his final attempt.

“We tried really hard to secure a place in Q2, but in the end we just missed out,” said Moreira. “At one point I was inside the top 10, but it was still early in the session.”

“With the last tyre, I was there again, but I made a mistake in the final corner and couldn’t finish the job. We are getting closer, and I think we can have another chance tomorrow.”

Even so, the 21-year-old remained positive after another productive day on a circuit he enjoys. His consistent improvement across sessions has given the team confidence heading into qualifying and the Sprint race.

Moreira also praised the work being done inside the garage as he continues adapting and building momentum during the weekend.

“We are working really well session after session, and that’s the most important thing,” he added.

With qualifying still to come, Moreira will now aim to convert his promising pace into a stronger grid position for both Saturday’s Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
