Fresh from battling wheel-to-wheel at one of motorsport's most iconic venues, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad were spotted travelling on a regular EasyJet commercial flight. Lawson even shared a photo on social media, confirming the surprisingly low-key journey.
For Lindblad, the reason was simple. "I've not got much money, so I'm still going on the normal commercial flights," he said. "There's nothing wrong with that. If I can save a bit of money, I might as well save some money."
His honest approach offers a rare glimpse into the financial reality faced by young drivers, even those knocking on the door of Formula 1.
A Seat Apart, A Bond Stronger
The two Racing Bulls teammates were seated close together on the flight, with Lawson taking the window seat and Lindblad sitting in the middle. The journey gave them the perfect opportunity to revisit their memorable battle at Spa-Francorchamps.
During the Belgian Grand Prix, Lindblad pulled off a stunning overtake as the pair ran side by side through the famous Eau Rouge and down the Kemmel Straight. Lawson was eventually forced to use the run-off area at Les Combes to avoid contact, capping off one of the race's standout duels.
Mutual Respect Beyond the Cockpit
The flight effectively became an informal post-race debrief. "Yeah, we spoke about it," Lindblad revealed. "We honestly have a really good relationship. We raced hard in Spa, and as soon as we saw each other after the race, he told me, 'Well done' and 'Good race.' I thought that was really impressive from him."
Lindblad explained that while both drivers compete fiercely on track, they maintain a strong friendship away from racing. "When we're in the car, we fight hard. But off the track, we have a good relationship. We get along well," he added, noting that they even take part in TikTok challenges together.
Lawson's Take on the Spa Showdown
Lawson shared the same perspective, holding no grudges after their intense contest. "It was actually a really, really good fight," he said. "I don't know many cars that have gone side by side through Eau Rouge and carried on down the whole straight like we did."
The New Zealander also admitted Lindblad simply had the stronger pace that weekend. "Last weekend, he was definitely quicker. It wasn't something I could really fight too hard against, honestly. He was going to drive away from me anyway. So it's all good."
Lawson's candid assessment and the pair's mutual respect highlighted not only their competitiveness but also the professionalism and sportsmanship that could define Formula 1's next generation.
