Taylor Fritz continued to prove why he is one of the most dangerous players on grass after defeating Alexander Bublik 7-6(1), 6-4, 6-4 to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the fourth time in the last five tournaments.
The seventh seed produced a composed display on Centre Court, overcoming the unpredictable Bublik in one hour and 41 minutes to keep his hopes of a maiden Grand Slam title alive.
Fritz's serve once again proved to be his biggest weapon. The American fired 22 aces and won 90 percent of his first-serve points, giving Bublik few opportunities to gain control of the match. He also made the most of his chances in key moments, converting crucial break points to seal a comfortable straight-sets victory.
"I thought I played the big points really well," Fritz said after the match. "When I had chances to break, I took them, and I managed to get out of some difficult situations."
The victory continues an outstanding grass-court season for Fritz, who has now won 11 of his 13 matches on the surface in 2026. He also reached the finals in Stuttgart and Halle, underlining his consistency heading into Wimbledon.
After an injury-disrupted clay season that limited his impact at Roland Garros, Fritz has looked refreshed in London. He has dropped just one set through four rounds, highlighting both his confidence and physical condition as the tournament enters its decisive stage.
Fritz has now reached his fifth quarter-final of the season and will face either Alexander Zverev or Jiri Lehecka for a place in the last four. He holds a strong head-to-head record against both potential opponents, having won seven consecutive matches against Zverev while also leading Lehecka 4-2.
With his powerful serve, growing confidence and impressive record on grass, Fritz is emerging as one of the leading contenders for the Wimbledon title as he looks to surpass last year's semi-final finish.
