Gresini unveils all-new rider line-up for 2027

The Faenza-based team, owned by Fausto Gresini's widow Nadia Padovani, confirmed via social media that Mir and Holgado have signed two-year deals. The pair will replace current riders Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer, marking a complete overhaul of Gresini's rider line-up for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns.

Mir leaves Honda after four seasons

Mir will make the switch from Honda, where he is currently completing his fourth season. The Mallorcan rider won the Moto3 world championship in 2017 before stepping up to MotoGP with Suzuki in 2019. Just a year later, he secured the MotoGP world title with the Japanese manufacturer.

Following Suzuki's withdrawal from MotoGP at the end of 2022, Mir moved to Honda. However, he joined the manufacturer during a difficult period as the team's performances declined. Mir has agreed to a two-year deal with Gresini and will race as a contracted Gresini rider on private Ducati machinery, without any contractual relationship with Ducati.

Holgado earns MotoGP promotion after Moto2 success

Shortly before Mir's announcement on Thursday, Gresini also confirmed the arrival of young Spanish rider Daniel Holgado. Holgado made his Moto3 World Championship debut in 2021 and finished runner-up in the 2024 title race before moving up to Moto2 with Aspar in 2025.

Last season, he claimed two victories and finished sixth in the Moto2 standings. This year, Holgado opened the campaign with a third-place finish in Thailand and a victory in Brazil, leading the championship after the opening two rounds. His strong form attracted interest from several MotoGP teams, with Gresini ultimately securing his signature for the next two seasons.

MotoGP rider market gathers pace

The announcements of Mir and Holgado are the latest additions to an increasingly active MotoGP rider market. A series of contract renewals and rider signings have accelerated after manufacturers, teams and the championship reached the Concorde Agreement.
