The Hawks and State Farm joined thousands of volunteers in Atlanta for the Sixth Million Meal Pack Initiative, helping combat food insecurity across the community.

While the Atlanta Hawks are known for their high-flying dunks and thrilling victories on the court, their impact off it is just as monumental – especially when it comes to tackling the critical issue of food insecurity in metro Atlanta.

Key Highlights from the Million Meal Pack:

  • Over 5,000 dedicated volunteers assembled an astounding 1,002,402 meals.
  • Marks the sixth consecutive year of this massive community effort by the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm.
  • Hawks players Kingston Flemings, Asa Newell, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Jalen Wilson joined the packing alongside team executives.
  • All meals will be distributed to local partners, directly supporting families facing food insecurity across metro Atlanta.

Hawks & State Farm: Dominating Hunger Off-Court

The energy inside State Farm Arena on Saturday wasn't for a playoff game, but for an even more crucial victory: the fight against hunger. For the sixth consecutive year, the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm joined forces for their celebrated Million Meal Pack initiative. This colossal event rallied over 5,000 volunteers, who collectively packed an incredible 1,002,402 meals to serve vulnerable communities in metro Atlanta.

A Unified Effort: From Players to Community Leaders

Hawks rising stars Kingston Flemings, Asa Newell, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Jalen Wilson rolled up their sleeves, demonstrating that their dedication extends far beyond the hardwood. They were joined by key figures like Hawks CEO Steve Koonin, State Farm's Allyson Watts, and even Hawks Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, all working shoulder-to-shoulder with volunteers. This broad participation underscores the collective resolve to make a tangible difference against food insecurity.

Six Years of Sustained Impact: More Than Just Meals

This year's record-breaking event pushes the cumulative total for the Million Meal Pack to over 6.1 million meals packed since its inception. Steve Koonin, CEO of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena, passionately articulated the significance: "This is more than a single day of service. It is a bold, collective stand against food insecurity and a powerful example of the change we can create when we come together with purpose." The scale of the operation is staggering, producing 167,067 meal bags and over 128,778 pounds of food in a single day.

Reaching Every Corner of Atlanta

Thanks to the expert logistical support of U.S. Hunger, these vital provisions are destined for distribution through a robust network of local partners. Beneficiaries include the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Hosea Helps, Midwest Food Bank, The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta, and Sweetwater Mission. This strategic distribution ensures that the impact reaches those who need it most, directly confronting the disheartening statistic that one in eight Georgians, including one in six children in the service area, face food insecurity.

A Green Initiative for a Brighter Future

Beyond its social mission, the Million Meal Pack champions environmental responsibility. Hosted at State Farm Arena, the world's first sports and entertainment venue to earn TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification, this event continued its tradition of sustainability. For the fifth time, the meal pack operated under zero-waste conditions, diverting over 90% of all materials from landfills. Every cardboard box and packing element is meticulously upcycled, proving that community service can be both impactful and eco-conscious.

The Hawks & State Farm Partnership: A Model for Community Engagement

The Hawks and State Farm are truly creating lasting, positive change, inspiring the next generation and strengthening neighborhoods with every initiative. Forged in 2018, their collaboration has yielded numerous community-focused initiatives designed to uplift metro Atlanta.

From hosting "Good Neighbor Day" events focused on physical and mental wellness to establishing 12 "Good Neighbor Clubs" across the city, including the latest at Pittman Park Recreation Center, this partnership is a blueprint for corporate responsibility in professional sports.
