One of the motorcycles that played a key role in Aprilia's rise in MotoGP is set to be auctioned, with former factory rider Aleix Espargaro putting his 2020 RS-GP up for sale. The bike is regarded as one of the most important machines in the manufacturer's recent history, marking the beginning of its transformation from a midfield team into a genuine race-winning force.
The motorcycle is expected to fetch around £250,000 (about RM1.45 million), reflecting both its rarity and historical significance. Genuine factory MotoGP prototypes are rarely offered to private buyers, making the sale a unique opportunity for collectors.

Although the RS-GP20 did not score a podium finish during the 2020 season, it represented a major breakthrough for Aprilia. The bike featured a redesigned V4 engine, improved aerodynamics and a heavily revised chassis, laying the technical foundation for the success the manufacturer would later achieve in MotoGP.
Espargaro was instrumental in the project's development after joining Aprilia in 2017. Working closely with the engineers, he helped shape the RS-GP into a competitive package that eventually delivered Aprilia's first MotoGP victory in 2022 and established the team as a regular front-runner. Today's RS-GP machines ridden by Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi continue to build on that technical platform.
The bike is being offered by UK specialist dealer 3D Moto Limited and is intended solely for track use or display, as it is not road legal. Its next owner will acquire not only a rare factory MotoGP machine but also a piece of Aprilia's modern racing history.
With factory MotoGP bikes seldom leaving manufacturers' collections, the sale represents an exceptionally rare chance to own one of the machines that helped reshape Aprilia's fortunes at the highest level of motorcycle racing.
