Former world number one doubles player Joe Salisbury has announced his retirement from professional tennis after a decorated career that included six Grand Slam titles.
The 34-year-old Londoner chose the US Open as his final tournament, teaming up with longtime partner Rajeev Ram, who had also announced plans to retire. The pair reached the semi-finals, providing a fitting conclusion to their successful partnership.
Salisbury and Ram made history in 2023 by becoming the first men's doubles team to win three consecutive US Open titles. They also claimed the Australian Open crown in 2020, while Salisbury won two mixed doubles Grand Slam titles with Desirae Krawczyk.
With 17 ATP Tour-level titles to his name, including back-to-back ATP Finals victories in 2022 and 2023, Salisbury finishes his career as Britain's most successful men's doubles player in the Open era.
Reflecting on his decision, Salisbury said he had been considering retirement for some time and was now "very happy with the decision".

"Tennis has been my life for as long as I can remember and I have been incredibly fortunate to have had all the opportunities, experiences and success that I have," he wrote on Instagram.
"To be able to travel the world and call playing tennis my job has been a dream come true and I never believed I could have lived the life and had the career that I have.
"I gave it my all and know I can be proud and look back with no regrets."
Salisbury took a three-month break from tennis earlier this year after previously speaking about the anxiety he experienced while competing on tour. Although he did not believe it had significantly affected his performance, he admitted that it made life on the road less enjoyable.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Salisbury explained that he initially considered continuing until the end of the year or potentially into 2027. However, reuniting with Ram and finishing their careers together at the US Open helped him reach a decision.
"I came back and I didn't really have a successful year. Then I teamed back up with my partner, Rajeev Ram, who I had all my success in Grand Slam titles [with] so it was great playing with him again," he said.
" I thought I could go on [until the] end of this year, maybe next year but I felt like it was nice to finish my career playing with him at the US Open where we had our success."
After reaching the semi-finals in New York, Salisbury brought an accomplished career to a close, having established himself as one of Britain's leading doubles players on the international stage.
