Jorge Martin is unlikely to take part in the first MotoGP preseason test at Sepang after undergoing further surgery on his left wrist and right collarbone, as the Aprilia rider continues his recovery ahead of the 2026 season.

Jorge Martin is expected to miss the first official MotoGP preseason test at Sepang after undergoing two additional surgeries in recent weeks to address injuries sustained last season.

The Aprilia rider first underwent a procedure to correct a lingering issue with the scaphoid bone in his left hand, originally injured in February last year. He later had surgery to repair his right collarbone, which was fractured during the sprint race at the Japanese Grand Prix on 27 September.

Although Martin had already undergone surgery for both injuries in 2025 and returned to racing, his recovery did not progress as consistently as hoped. Despite being declared fit, the reigning world champion did not feel fully recovered, prompting further medical examinations and the decision to correct both procedures.

Martin has spent the past month focusing on physical rehabilitation and gym training, but has not ridden a motorcycle since the post-season Valencia test in November.

While Aprilia has yet to issue a formal update, Martin is understood to be recovering well. However, he is almost certain to miss the Sepang test, scheduled for 3 to 5 February.

Martin may still travel to Malaysia to support the team from the garage and attend the MotoGP season launch event in Kuala Lumpur on 6 and 7 February, an event he missed last year due to injury.

Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori is expected to replace Martin during the Sepang test, continuing a role he filled extensively last season.

Martin is now targeting a return for the second preseason test at Buriram on 21 and 22 February, ahead of the Thai Grand Prix season opener on 1 March.

The setback follows a difficult debut year with Aprilia in which Martin was injured on the opening day of last year’s Sepang test, underwent multiple surgeries and completed only four of the 22 races on the calendar.
