It’s a story of what-ifs for Maverick Vinales. His recent withdrawal from the US Grand Prix due to excruciating shoulder pain was just the latest chapter in a frustrating narrative. The issue stemmed from a loose screw – a lingering consequence of a previous injury sustained at Sachsenring in 2025.

This wasn't a question of declining speed or skill, but a literal mechanical failure within his own body. Before this latest setback, pre-season testing had fueled optimism, hinting that Vinales was finally returning to the dominant form he showcased before his German GP crash.

A Season of Frustration, Not Failure

Adding to the challenge, Vinales has failed to register points at both Buriram and Goiania this season. This starkly contrasts with the factory KTM team's Pedro Acosta, who has consistently contended for podium finishes. The disparity puts pressure on Vinales to deliver.

KTM Motorsport Director Pit Beirer acknowledges the frustration. He highlighted Vinales' vital contributions during KTM's more difficult periods in 2025, expressing personal sympathy for the rider's run of bad luck. The mystery of his recurring pain, despite a healed ligament, only deepened the team's concern until the screw's movement was identified.

KTM's Unwavering Faith: A Vision for the Future

Despite the current challenges, KTM’s long-term vision for Maverick Vinales remains clear. When he joined from Aprilia, the plan was for him to become a foundational figure. The team still sees him as an indispensable
