What happens when pickleball, craft beer and BBQ collide? Kuala Lumpur is about to find out. On 21 and 22 August 2026, Pickle Park will turn into the setting for Kura’s PickleBeer Social, a two-day event combining casual pickleball games with US craft beers, smoky BBQ and a laid-back social atmosphere.
Key Festival Highlights:
- Innovative "per-court" booking for pickleball sessions at RM175.
- Each booking includes 55 minutes of play, four premium US craft beers, and limited-edition coasters.
- A unique partnership between Kura's Krafts, a renowned craft beer bar, and social sports collective The Last Minute Club.
- Scheduled for August 21-22, 2026, promising a full weekend of action in Kuala Lumpur.
Swing into Action: The Per-Court Advantage
Instead of selling individual tickets, organisers are taking a different approach by charging RM175 per court. Each booking comes with 55 minutes of court time, four American craft beers and limited-edition coasters. Although no maximum number of players is specified, each group is limited to two hours of sessions per day.
For a group of seven, that works out to around RM25 per person, making the package considerably cheaper than buying a single pint at many bars around the city.
Pickleball, Pints and a Relaxed Weekend Vibe
The event is organised by Kura’s Krafts, a craft beer bar based in Bukit Damansara. The venue takes its name from the founders’ Shiba Inu and is known for its rotating beer selection, imported bottles and easygoing atmosphere.
For this event, Kura’s Krafts is joining forces with social sports group The Last Minute Club. Together, they are aiming for an experience that puts fun ahead of competition, summed up by their tagline: “All fun. No pressure. Just questionable backhands and a good time.”
The schedule gives players plenty of flexibility. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on August 21, before opening from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on August 22.
The playful theme carries through to the event artwork, which features Kura the dog dressed in a varsity jacket and taking a swing at a pickleball. The venue itself is envisioned as a bright, carnival-inspired space with hanging lights and a BBQ pit at its centre.
How to Book Your Pickleball Court
Getting a spot at the Kura’s PickleBeer Social involves a fairly hands-on booking process. With limited slots available, participants must complete a six-step reservation process.
This includes adding the booking to a Google Calendar, making a bank transfer to Kura’s Krafts and then sending a WhatsApp confirmation with the relevant screenshots and proof of payment. A court is only considered secured once both the reservation and payment have been completed.
There are also restrictions surrounding the beer portion of the event. Alcohol service is available only to non-Muslims aged 21 and above. And although Kura’s Krafts itself is known as a pet-friendly bar, Pickle Park's festival venue does not allow pets.
More Than Just a Pickleball Session
The appeal of the event goes beyond simply playing pickleball. The per-court pricing model encourages friends and groups to play together while splitting the overall cost, removing the need to keep track of separate individual payments.
The combination of pickleball, US craft beer, BBQ and a carnival-style setting gives the event a distinctly social character. It's less about keeping score and more about bringing people together for a relaxed weekend outing.
For Kuala Lumpur's growing pickleball community, the Kura’s PickleBeer Social offers something a little different: a chance to hit the courts, enjoy some craft beer and turn an ordinary game into a full social experience.
