O'Reilly Targets Four Trophies With Man City
After becoming a regular for both club and country last season, Lewis O'Reilly has his sights set on even more success with Manchester City. The 21-year-old already has a Carabao Cup and FA Cup from City's 2025-26 campaign, but his ambitions extend further.
Asked by Akinfenwa about his goals for the new season, O'Reilly made his targets clear: "Prem (Premier League). Champions League. Carabao Cup again. FA Cup again."
O'Reilly played a decisive role in City's Carabao Cup triumph last season, scoring both goals in the March 2026 final against Arsenal to secure the trophy against the reigning Premier League champions.
From Nervous Debut to City Regular
O'Reilly's rise has been rapid since Pep Guardiola handed him his Manchester City debut against Manchester United in the 2024 Community Shield. The academy graduate started in midfield at Wembley as City eventually won 7-6 on penalties after Bernardo Silva's late goal sent the match to a shootout.
Looking back on that first major appearance, O'Reilly admitted that nerves got the better of him and revealed what he would tell his younger self if he could relive the occasion. "Just embrace it and enjoy the moment more."
The City star also encouraged young players in similar situations to make the most of such opportunities. "Take it all in, special day, play with fun, go out there and enjoy it."
Will O'Reilly Bring Out the 'Beast Mode'?
O'Reilly has already scored 14 goals in all competitions during his emerging senior career, although he has yet to establish a trademark goal celebration. That could soon change after Akinfenwa challenged him to recreate his iconic 'Beast Mode' muscle pose the next time he scores.
There was one condition: it could not come against Akinfenwa's former club, Liverpool. O'Reilly was more than happy to accept the challenge. "Is that what you'd like? Yeah, I've got you."
