MotoGP’s next era is about to take a major step forward. Marc Marquez is expected to be among the first riders to test Ducati’s new 850cc prototype at Brno, offering an early glimpse into the machinery that will define the championship from 2027 onward.

MotoGP's future is set to arrive at Brno next week, with Marc Marquez expected to become one of the first current riders to test the championship's new-generation 850cc machinery.

The private test, scheduled for the Monday following the Czech Grand Prix, will provide manufacturers with their first opportunity to gather feedback from active MotoGP riders on bikes being developed for the sport's sweeping 2027 regulations. The new rules will reduce engine capacity from 1000cc to 850cc, introduce Pirelli as the sole tyre supplier and significantly cut back on aerodynamic devices and ride-height systems.

According to reports, Ducati has selected Marquez and rising star Fermin Aldeguer to represent the factory during the test. Both riders are expected to remain part of Ducati's long-term plans, making them ideal candidates to help shape the brand's future motorcycle.

The Brno outing will mark Marquez's first experience on a MotoGP machine built around the 2027 technical regulations. While Ducati test rider Michele Pirro has already begun development work on the prototype behind closed doors, this will be the first time one of the championship's leading riders evaluates the bike.

Manufacturers are expected to field only a limited number of riders due to the small supply of prototype motorcycles and Pirelli tyres currently available. Ducati's decision to use Marquez highlights the importance of the test, as engineers seek feedback from a rider renowned for his ability to adapt to changing machinery and extract maximum performance.

The Brno test is also expected to feature several other high-profile names, including Aprilia championship leader Marco Bezzecchi. Across the paddock, manufacturers are beginning to shift their focus toward the biggest technical reset MotoGP has seen in years.

For Marquez, the session represents more than just another test. It offers an early chance to influence the development of the bike he could be racing in the next chapter of his MotoGP career.

As teams continue preparing for the 2027 transition, the Brno test will provide the clearest indication yet of how MotoGP's future may look, feel and perform once the current 1000cc era comes to an end.
