Marc Marquez has revealed that he plans to wait until after his MotoGP career is over before reading Valentino Rossi’s upcoming autobiography, which is expected to revisit one of the sport’s most intense rivalries.
Rossi’s new book, La Mia Storia (My Story), will be released on November 10. Co-written with Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi, the 480-page autobiography will cover the nine-time world champion’s life and career, including his highly publicised rivalry with Marquez.
The relationship between the two riders became increasingly tense during the 2015 season, culminating in the controversial incidents at Sepang and Valencia. Their rivalry has remained one of the most talked-about chapters in modern MotoGP.
Marquez, however, appears in no rush to hear Rossi’s version of events.
Asked about the book, the eight-time world champion said he would be interested in reading it, but only once he has retired.
“Maybe when I retire, I will read to try to learn things. Because in the end, it's good to learn from all the legends of every sport,” Marquez said.

For now, Marquez remains focused on his racing career rather than revisiting the past. With Rossi’s autobiography expected to offer new details about their rivalry, the Ducati rider can afford to wait before discovering his former rival’s perspective.
The rivalry also continues to attract attention whenever Rossi appears in the MotoGP paddock. Although he retired from the premier class at the end of 2021, Rossi remains a major presence through his VR46 team, which competes with Ducati machinery.
That connection was once again visible at Misano, where Rossi made a paddock appearance. During Friday practice, television cameras showed Rossi watching from Turn 8 as Marquez rode his factory Ducati through the corner.
The moment became even more intriguing when a replay was shown inside the Ducati garage, with Marquez appearing to look away from the screen.
Marquez later played down the significance of the moment.
“I think there's enough excitement on the track to make these games worth watching,” he said.
For Marquez, the focus is clearly on what happens on track. For MotoGP fans, however, even the smallest interaction between the two former rivals continues to revive memories of one of the championship’s most memorable feuds.
Rossi’s autobiography could offer another look at that history, but Marquez will apparently wait until his own racing chapter has come to an end before turning the page.
