Marco Bezzecchi's Czech Grand Prix weekend came to a dramatic end after the MotoGP championship leader was suspended from Sunday's main race following an incident involving a track marshal during the Sprint.
The Aprilia rider was battling inside the top five when he crashed at Turn 3 on the penultimate lap of Saturday's race. Moments after the fall, television footage showed Bezzecchi confronting a marshal who was assisting with the recovery of his motorcycle from the gravel trap.
The incident quickly attracted the attention of race officials, who launched an investigation and summoned Bezzecchi to appear before the FIM MotoGP Stewards later that evening.
Following the hearing, the stewards ruled that Bezzecchi had engaged in unacceptable conduct towards track personnel and imposed a suspension for the remainder of the Czech Grand Prix weekend.
In its official statement, the panel stated that Bezzecchi had "pushed and struck" marshals while they were carrying out their duties. The stewards determined that the behaviour was detrimental to the interests and reputation of the sport, resulting in one of the most severe penalties handed down this season.
The decision was made under Article 3.3.2.2 of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Regulations, which covers actions considered harmful to the sport. Although Aprilia retains the right to appeal the ruling, the suspension immediately ruled Bezzecchi out of Sunday's Grand Prix.
