The eight-time world champion returned to racing after missing two rounds following injuries sustained in a crash at Le Mans. Questions surrounded his condition heading into the weekend, but Marquez quickly demonstrated that he remained capable of competing near the front.
The Spaniard impressed from the opening practice sessions, taking enough risks to secure direct passage into Q2 before qualifying fourth on the grid. It also made him the highest-placed Ducati rider in qualifying, highlighting his immediate speed despite limited preparation.
Marquez carried that momentum into Saturday's sprint race, briefly leading the field before eventually finishing fifth. The result provided an early indication that he could remain competitive over race distance, even while managing physical discomfort.
Sunday's Grand Prix presented an even greater challenge. Still recovering from recent surgery, Marquez battled through the pain and delivered a determined ride to seventh place.
One of the highlights of the race was his lengthy duel with KTM rookie Pedro Acosta. The pair exchanged positions several times before Acosta eventually gained the upper hand, but Marquez's fighting spirit remained evident throughout the contest.
Although seventh place may not appear spectacular on paper, Marquez viewed the weekend as a significant step forward in his recovery.

The 32-year-old recently underwent procedures to address a broken toe and a shoulder issue involving a screw that was irritating a nerve. While he has been cleared to race, Marquez admitted he is still lacking strength and continues to manage the physical limitations caused by his injuries.
He revealed that his shoulder remained irritated after the race, though he believes the nerve problem has improved since the operation.
More importantly, Mugello confirmed that his decision to return was the right one. Marquez said the weekend exceeded his expectations and provided valuable confidence as he works towards regaining full fitness.
While he acknowledged that he is still some way from his ideal physical condition, his performance in Italy offered a reminder of his resilience and competitiveness.
