League-Wide Partnership and Community Impact
The NBA first announced its partnership with America250 and Stand Together in January, launching initiatives focused on community service and volunteerism across the United States throughout 2026.
As part of the AmericaGives program, NBA teams and players have contributed to a nationwide effort that has already surpassed 2.5 million volunteer hours as of March.
The league also joined Stand Together’s Be The People National Leadership Council, aimed at uniting communities and addressing local challenges ahead of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
NBA Emphasises Civic Engagement
“The 250th birthday of the United States offers the NBA Family a wonderful opportunity for reflection and civic engagement, and we’re proud to help bring communities together through hands-on service,” said Barbara Bush, NBA Senior Vice President of Social Impact and Inclusion.
She added that the league has long believed in basketball’s ability to unite communities and inspire collective action for positive change.
Finals Viewing Party for Service Members Overseas
To mark the start of the Knicks-Spurs NBA Finals, the NBA and the United Service Organizations (USO) will host a special viewing event at the USO Camp Hansen Center in Okinawa, Japan.
The event will bring together service members for a live screening of Game 1 on Wednesday, June 3 (8:30 p.m. ET on ABC), creating a shared experience that connects troops overseas with one of basketball’s biggest stages.
The initiative is part of a broader collaboration between the NBA and USO aimed at bringing major sporting moments to U.S. service members around the world.
