Malaysia’s Noraqilah Maisarah narrowly missed out on a strong result at the China Badminton Masters, but the young shuttler is now turning her attention to a key home assignment where she aims to make a bigger impact.

Malaysia’s young shuttler Noraqilah Maisarah came close to a breakthrough result at the recent tournament in China, but ultimately fell just short in her campaign at the 2026 BWF World Tour event held in Baoji.

Competing in the women’s doubles category alongside her partner Low Zi Yu, the Malaysian pair were unable to convert their momentum into a deeper run despite showing encouraging signs against higher-ranked opposition.

The result marked a frustrating near miss for the duo, who had targeted a stronger finish to build confidence and improve their standing on the international circuit.

Despite the setback, the performance still offered positives, with the pair demonstrating improved coordination and competitiveness during key stages of their matches in China.

The outing also served as valuable exposure at a higher-level competition, with the young Malaysians gaining experience against more established pairs from across Asia.

Attention now turns to an upcoming home assignment, where Noraqilah is expected to lead Malaysia’s challenge and look for a stronger result in front of local supporters.

The home tournament presents an important opportunity for redemption, as well as a chance to translate recent progress into a more consistent run on the World Tour.

For Noraqilah, the focus will be on tightening key moments in matches and building greater consistency, particularly in pressure situations where results in China slipped away.

With momentum from international exposure still fresh, the Malaysian camp will be hoping the experience gained abroad can be turned into improved performances on home soil.
