Timed perfectly with the Philippines’ 128th Independence Day, the event earned its fitting nickname—the Dink-Dependence Day Showdown—and more than delivered on its promise.

A total of 268 players travelled from across Luzon to compete across beginner, novice, low intermediate, and high intermediate divisions, turning Kawit into a true hub of pickleball action.
The tournament opened in style with a ceremonial first serve by former Senator Cynthia Villar, setting the tone for a day packed with energy, competition, and celebration. From the first rally to the final point, the atmosphere blended intensity on court with a festival-like spirit off it.

The event delivered no shortage of drama across all categories. In the women’s division, real-life partners Christi Villarante and Joey Anne Ramos claimed the title and pocketed P15,000 after a strong campaign.

In the men’s final, Mandaluyong’s Kristopher Tesorio and Augustine Evardo edged past local favourites Bon Baga and Cristobal Rañoa Jr. in a tightly contested finish that had fans on edge until the final point.

Beyond the competition, the event highlighted the rapid rise of pickleball in the Philippines and the growing strength of its community. Organised by THE DAILY TRIBUNE, alongside ArenaPlus, the Philippine Sports Commission, and JC Premiere, the tournament ensured every participant and spectator was part of the celebration.
