Moto2 title contender Senna Agius believes he shares one of Casey Stoner's greatest strengths, saying his ability to control a motorcycle with the rear tyre gives him a natural advantage as he prepares for a future in MotoGP.
The Australian rider explained that, like Stoner, he is comfortable allowing the rear of the bike to move beneath him rather than relying heavily on front-end grip. Agius said this riding style helps him avoid front wheel crashes, an area where many riders struggle when pushing at the limit.

Stoner was widely regarded as one of the sport's best riders at managing rear tyre slides, particularly during his championship-winning years with Ducati and Honda. Agius believes the same approach suits his own riding, allowing him to steer the bike through the rear while maintaining confidence on corner entry.
The 21-year-old's confidence has grown alongside an impressive 2026 Moto2 campaign. Agius has established himself as one of the championship's leading riders and is widely expected to graduate to MotoGP next season after consistently challenging for podiums and victories.
Despite the comparison, Agius stressed that he is not trying to copy the two-time MotoGP world champion. Instead, he believes the similarities come naturally because both riders prefer using the rear tyre to control the motorcycle rather than depending primarily on the front.
With his MotoGP promotion drawing closer, Agius hopes that riding characteristic will continue to serve him well in the premier class, just as it did for fellow Australian Stoner during one of the most successful careers in MotoGP history.
