Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Naomi Osaka brought star power and artistic expression to the Met Gala, showcasing how sport and fashion can intersect on the biggest stage.

The Met Gala once again delivered a celebration of creativity, with this year’s “Fashion is Art” theme attracting some of the biggest names beyond the fashion world. Among them, tennis stars Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Naomi Osaka stood out for their striking interpretations on the red carpet.

Venus Williams played a prominent role as an honorary co-chair, joining figures such as Beyoncé and Nicole Kidman. She used the occasion to highlight the connection between fashion, culture, and identity, representing both the sport and her personal journey.

Her custom black gown, created with Swarovski elements, featured a detailed pearl neckpiece inspired by a portrait created for the National Portrait Gallery and the iconic Venus Rosewater Dish. The design paid tribute to her heritage and upbringing, blending personal symbolism with high fashion.

Serena Williams opted for a bold and polished look, wearing a silver gown by Marc Jacobs paired with jewellery from David Yurman. Her appearance reflected her signature confidence and presence, reinforcing her influence both within and beyond tennis.

Naomi Osaka brought a more experimental approach. Working again with designer Robert Wun, she arrived in an ivory coat accented with red feathers, complemented by a wide-brimmed hat designed by Awon Golding. The look transformed on the carpet, revealing a red crystal dress underneath made with multiple shades of Swarovski elements. The piece, which required thousands of hours to complete, was designed to reflect transformation and the human form.

Together, the three athletes demonstrated how leading figures in sport continue to shape conversations in fashion. Their appearances at the Met Gala highlighted not only their individual styles but also the growing crossover between athletic achievement and artistic expression.
