Toprak Razgatlioglu is hoping to bring MotoGP back to Turkey, with the Turkish rider targeting a potential 2028 race at Istanbul Park.
The MotoGP newcomer is actively involved in discussions surrounding the return, believing the circuit is already capable of hosting a Grand Prix. While a 2027 slot would be difficult due to the championship's crowded calendar, Razgatlioglu said conversations are focused on making 2028 a realistic target.
"Istanbul Park is ready to race now," Razgatlioglu said, highlighting his confidence in the venue's current condition.
The prospect of MotoGP returning to Turkey has gained fresh attention following the announcement that Formula 1 will return to Istanbul Park in 2027 under a five-year contract. For Razgatlioglu, the deal raises the possibility of both major racing championships making a comeback at the circuit.
"Formula 1, they did a five-year contract. And this is good; why [shouldn't MotoGP come back]?" he said.
Istanbul Park previously hosted three MotoGP Grands Prix between 2005 and 2007, with Marco Melandri and Casey Stoner among the riders to claim victories at the circuit.

A return would carry added significance with Razgatlioglu now competing in MotoGP. The Turkish rider has a strong following in his home country, potentially creating substantial interest in a home Grand Prix. The circuit's location near Istanbul could also help attract local spectators and international fans.
However, Razgatlioglu understands that racing in front of his home crowd would bring considerable expectations. The pressure to deliver a strong result could add another challenge to an already demanding MotoGP weekend.
"If MotoGP comes back to Istanbul Park, I need to show some special result," he admitted.
"This is the biggest problem, you know? Too much pressure for me!"
Despite the pressure, Razgatlioglu remains keen to see MotoGP return to Turkey. With Istanbul Park preparing for Formula 1's comeback in 2027 and discussions surrounding a potential MotoGP race in 2028, the possibility of a Turkish Grand Prix is beginning to take shape.
