Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin finally has his breakthrough title.
The world No. 91 Malaysian produced a composed performance to defeat Singapore’s world No. 33 Jason Teh 21-16, 21-14 in the Vietnam Open final, claiming his first Badminton World Tour title.
Aidil entered the Super 100 tournament unseeded, but his run ended with a major upset against the top seed. He controlled the match from the early stages, maintaining the pressure and keeping Teh from finding his rhythm.
The victory also gave Aidil his second consecutive win over Teh, further underlining his progress against a higher-ranked opponent.

More importantly, the title ended a frustrating wait for the Malaysian. Aidil had previously finished runner-up at the 2024 Indonesia Masters Super 100 II and last year’s Al Ain Masters, falling short on both occasions.
This time, he made no mistake when the opportunity arrived.
The Vietnam Open crown is also Malaysia’s first men’s singles Badminton World Tour title of the year, providing a timely boost for the country’s singles programme.
Aidil will take home US$8,250 in prize money from his breakthrough victory, but the confidence gained from beating a top seed and lifting his first World Tour trophy could prove even more valuable.
After years of working his way through the rankings and coming close without winning a final, Aidil has finally turned one of those opportunities into silverware.
The challenge now is to build on this result and use the Vietnam Open triumph as a springboard towards a higher position in the world rankings.
