Alex Marquez accepted responsibility for the crash that ended his German Grand Prix, admitting he may have pushed beyond the limit while chasing another podium finish.

Alex Marquez believes overconfidence may have contributed to the crash that brought his German Grand Prix to an early end, with the Gresini Ducati rider accepting full responsibility for the costly mistake.

Marquez had been running comfortably in second place behind his brother Marc Marquez when he lost control of his bike and crashed at Turn 8. The incident ended what had looked set to be another strong points finish and dealt a blow to his championship campaign.

Reflecting on the accident, Marquez admitted he may have been carrying too much confidence after a strong weekend, leading him to exceed the available grip.

"Maybe I was too confident," he said. "I entered the corner a little faster than on the previous laps and leaned the bike a bit more. I simply lost the front."

The Spaniard stressed that he was not attempting an aggressive move or taking unnecessary risks. Instead, he felt he had become too comfortable with his pace and unintentionally crossed the limit.

Marquez described the crash as frustrating because he believed a second-place finish was well within reach. At the time of the incident, he was managing the gap to the riders behind while trying to stay close to race leader Marc Marquez.

Despite the disappointment, the 30-year-old remained philosophical and insisted the mistake should serve as a lesson rather than become a distraction in the title fight.

"It's a mistake that can happen. The important thing is to understand why it happened and avoid repeating it," he said.

Marquez also escaped without any serious injuries, allowing him to shift his focus quickly to the next round after the MotoGP summer break.

Although the crash cost him valuable championship points, Marquez has shown strong pace throughout recent rounds and remains one of the leading contenders this season. With several races still to come, he will aim to bounce back and resume his fight at the front when the championship returns.
