Kompany Stays Faithful to Bayern’s Identity Despite Defensive Concerns
Despite conceding five goals in a chaotic first-leg thriller, Bayern defender Jonathan Tah insists the team will not abandon their attacking identity for the return fixture. The German centre-back stressed that their established style has been the foundation of their Champions League run and should remain unchanged heading into the decisive match.
“Basically, our way of playing has brought us to where we are now. That's why I don't think we should change anything about it,” Tah explained to the media. He argued that Bayern’s best chance of containing PSG lies in maintaining intensity and aggression, adding: “The most important thing is simply our way of playing, that we are brave, that we are aggressive, win the challenges, win duels individually as well as a team as a whole, win second balls.”The Bavarian Battle Cry: No Retreat for Bayern!
Kompany Rejects Tactical Overhaul and Guardiola Comparisons
Vincent Kompany has pushed back against speculation that he may dramatically alter his approach for the high-stakes semi-final, dismissing comparisons with Pep Guardiola and rejecting the idea of overthinking the occasion. The Bayern boss remains committed to the principles that have defined his debut season in charge, avoiding last-minute tactical experimentation.
“If I said I wanted to do something special, that would be a very stupid answer from me,” Kompany said when questioned about potential changes inspired by Guardiola’s big-game adjustments. He labelled such suggestions as “media rubbish” and insisted he approaches the match with “inner peace.” The coach also revealed he has extensively studied PSG, analysing around 35 of their matches in preparation for the tie.
Bayern’s Attack Brings Confidence Ahead of PSG Clash
While defensive organisation remains key against PSG’s attacking stars Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Tah also expressed strong belief in Bayern’s own offensive firepower. He highlighted the impact of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz, who have impressed in training and continue to push the defensive unit to improve.
“It’s outstanding to train with these guys every day. Their quality makes you better every day; they challenge you every day,” Tah said. He even joked about their level, adding: “I prefer to watch them kill other defenders.”
Squad Boost Strengthens Bayern’s Semi-Final Preparation
Kompany also received positive news ahead of the clash, with Bayern nearly at full strength for the semi-final. Aside from long-term absentee Serge Gnabry, the squad is largely available, giving the coach more tactical flexibility for a demanding European night.
The return of Raphael Guerreiro and young talent Lennart Karl further strengthens Bayern’s options off the bench, particularly if the match requires changes in tempo or structure. With his squad close to full fitness, Kompany stressed the importance of availability at this stage, as Bayern prepare for a defining showdown with the defending champions.
