Trackhouse Racing will undergo a major leadership change at the end of the 2026 MotoGP season after confirming the departure of team principal Davide Brivio.
The Italian is expected to join Honda Racing Corporation from 2027, marking a return to factory-level leadership for one of the paddock’s most respected team managers.
Brivio played a crucial role in building Trackhouse into a competitive MotoGP outfit after the American organisation entered the championship in 2024 by taking over the former RNF Racing structure. His experience and leadership helped the team establish itself quickly despite being one of the newest projects on the grid.
Under Brivio’s direction, Trackhouse enjoyed rapid progress. Raul Fernandez delivered the team’s first MotoGP victory at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, while rookie rider Ai Ogura recently secured a podium finish at the French Grand Prix.
The team’s performances have also strengthened Aprilia Racing in the constructors’ championship, with Trackhouse currently sitting near the top of the teams’ standings.
Trackhouse founder Justin Marks praised Brivio’s contribution, crediting him for helping shape the long-term vision of the project and accelerating the team’s competitiveness in a short period of time.
For Honda, Brivio’s expected arrival represents an important step in its efforts to return to the front of MotoGP after several difficult seasons. The Japanese manufacturer has struggled to consistently challenge Ducati and Aprilia in recent years, leading to major internal restructuring ahead of the 2027 regulation changes.
Brivio brings a strong track record to Honda. He famously guided Suzuki Ecstar to the 2020 riders’ championship and also enjoyed successful periods with Yamaha Factory Racing earlier in his career.
Although he is not expected to directly replace Alberto Puig, who is likely to move into an advisory position, Brivio is seen as a key figure in Honda’s rebuilding plans for the next MotoGP era.
Trackhouse has already begun preparing for life after Brivio, with Marks promising further announcements regarding the team’s future leadership structure in the coming months.
Before departing, Brivio remains focused on continuing the team’s momentum through the remainder of the 2026 season. Despite the upcoming change, both sides appear determined to end their partnership on a high note as Trackhouse continues its rise in MotoGP.
