Bublik returns as the defending champion after defeating Arthur Cazaux 6-3, 6-4 in last year's final to claim his maiden Kitzbühel title. In the doubles event, Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl lifted the trophy after overcoming Neil Oberleitner and Joel Schwaerzler in a dramatic final.

The tournament also boasts a rich history. Guillermo Vilas remains the most successful singles player with four titles, while Emilio Sanchez holds the record for the most match wins with 33. Paolo Lorenzi became the oldest champion when he won the title at the age of 34 in 2016, while Juan Martin del Potro remains the youngest champion after triumphing as a 19-year-old in 2008.

Dominic Thiem gave Austrian fans a memorable home victory in 2019, and the event has produced champions ranging from former world No. 2 players to surprise winners such as Horacio de la Pena, who captured the title in 1990 while ranked No. 191.
