Honda LCR stand-in rider Cal Crutchlow finished 20th on Friday at Silverstone but was encouraged by his pace after returning to his home circuit.
The British rider completed a productive opening day, steadily improving throughout the sessions on one of the fastest tracks on the MotoGP calendar. Crutchlow said he felt comfortable on the bike and was pleased with the progress made alongside the team.
“I feel alright. I’m trying to keep a little bit of magic, and this is the fastest I’ve ever been at Silverstone.”
Crutchlow completed a series of consistent laps while reducing the gap to the riders ahead, with the team continuing to make improvements as the day progressed.
“We’ve done a good job today. It’s a demanding track, and when I went out this morning, I was reminded of just how fast it is. Overall, I’m happy with how the day went.”
Although he finished 20th in the combined standings, Crutchlow believes there is still room to improve and remains optimistic heading into Saturday's qualifying and Sprint.
“When I look at the timesheet, it’s not too bad, although there are still a few areas where we can improve.”
The experienced Briton hopes another step forward on Saturday will allow him to fight closer to the midfield and enjoy the Sprint race.
“Hopefully, tomorrow we can take another step forward, fight a little more, and enjoy the Sprint.”
