Diogo Moreira produced an impressive recovery ride at the Sachsenring Grand Prix, climbing from 18th on the grid to finish 11th and collect valuable championship points for Honda LCR.
The Brazilian started further back after receiving a grid penalty for slow riding during qualifying but quickly worked his way through the field. Despite finding the revised grid procedure difficult in the opening laps, Moreira stayed composed and maintained a consistent pace throughout the 30-lap race.
"Super long race! Thirty laps was a lot. I tried to stay focused, avoid mistakes and manage the race well," said Moreira.
Grip proved to be a challenge during the race, but the rookie adapted well and avoided costly mistakes to secure another points finish.
"We survived and scored some points, which is always important. With the new grid procedure, it was difficult to get a better start."
Moreira also viewed the race as another valuable learning experience, using the opportunity to gather data and better understand the bike in race conditions.
"I stayed with the group and gathered information to improve, which was important."
The result capped off a solid weekend for Moreira, who heads into the MotoGP summer break with more championship points and continued progress in his rookie campaign.
