Diogo Moreira finished 15th on Friday at Silverstone as the Honda LCR rookie continued adapting to the MotoGP bike at the fast British circuit.

Honda LCR rider Diogo Moreira finished 15th on Friday at Silverstone as the Brazilian continued his first MotoGP weekend at the circuit.

Making his MotoGP debut at the Silverstone Circuit, Moreira described his opening day as demanding but productive, with the team using the sessions to test different bike settings and better understand the track.

“It was a normal first day. We tried different things on the bike, and we need to keep working to understand it better around this track, but we’re heading in the right direction.”

The #11 rider found it difficult to put together a perfect lap, particularly through Silverstone’s fast corners. Moreira said the team still has work to do in that area before Saturday.

“There are still a few things to figure out, and hopefully tomorrow we’ll have the chance to do that. We’re struggling in the fast corners, so that’s where we’re focusing our efforts.”

Despite the difficulties, Moreira believes there are positives to take from Friday. With mistakes proving costly around the high-speed circuit, the rookie is focused on finding consistency while continuing to improve the bike.

“It’s difficult to put together a perfect lap here, so we’re trying to avoid mistakes because they can be costly.”

Moreira will now face Q1 on Saturday, with a place in Q2 and a stronger grid position his main targets before the Sprint race.

“Tomorrow, we’ll try to secure a place in Q2, and then we’ll see what we can do in the Sprint.”
