Novak Djokovic became the winningest men's singles player in Wimbledon history, while Naomi Osaka produced the tournament's biggest upset by eliminating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to reach the quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic etched his name deeper into Wimbledon history on Sunday by becoming the winningest men's singles player at the All England Club, while Naomi Osaka produced a stunning upset to knock out world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and reach the quarter-finals for the first time.

Djokovic claimed his 106th men's singles victory at Wimbledon with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin in the fourth round. The result moved the seven-time Wimbledon champion past Roger Federer's previous record of 105 match wins at the tournament. Only Martina Navratilova, with 120 singles victories, has won more matches at Wimbledon across both the men's and women's competitions.

The 39-year-old also reached his 17th Wimbledon quarter-final and a record-extending 66th Grand Slam quarter-final. Djokovic will next face Canadian third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, who outlasted Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a five-set battle. Victory would keep Djokovic on course for a potential semi-final clash with defending champion Jannik Sinner, who advanced after defeating Japanese qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki in straight sets.

Although he admitted he was not at his best, Djokovic was pleased to continue his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam singles title, which would move him clear of Margaret Court. An eighth Wimbledon crown would also see him equal Federer's record for the most men's singles titles at the tournament.

In the women's draw, Osaka delivered one of the biggest victories of the tournament by defeating top seed Sabalenka 6-2, 7-6 (2). The four-time Grand Slam champion produced an outstanding display to reach her first Wimbledon quarter-final and extend her impressive run without dropping a set.

The victory was particularly significant for Osaka, who avenged her straight-set defeat to Sabalenka at the French Open earlier this year. She will now face 10th seed Karolina Muchova for a place in the semi-finals after the Czech eliminated defending champion Barbora Krejcikova.

Sabalenka's defeat continued a remarkable run of upsets in the women's singles competition. Following the earlier exits of Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina, the tournament is now guaranteed to crown a ninth consecutive first-time women's singles champion at Wimbledon.

With Djokovic continuing his pursuit of more history and Osaka rediscovering the form that made her a four-time Grand Slam champion, both players have emerged as two of the biggest stories heading into the quarter-final stage at the All England Club.
