Jack Draper marked the beginning of his partnership with Andy Murray by defeating Marcos Giron in straight sets at Eastbourne, securing his first victory in more than three months as he continues his comeback from injury ahead of Wimbledon.

Jack Draper enjoyed a successful return to competitive action on Monday, defeating Marcos Giron 6-4, 7-6(5) at the Eastbourne Open in his first match under the guidance of new coach Andy Murray.

The victory represented an encouraging step forward for Draper, who had not played since April after being sidelined by knee tendinitis. The British player entered the tournament looking to regain momentum ahead of Wimbledon and showed signs of progress despite understandable rust after more than two months away from competition.

Draper started strongly, controlling much of the opening set with his powerful serve and aggressive baseline play. Although he encountered some resistance late in the match and was unable to close out the contest at the first opportunity, he remained composed in the second-set tiebreak to secure a straight-sets victory.

The match also marked the debut of Draper's coaching partnership with former world No. 1 Andy Murray. The three-time Grand Slam champion has joined Draper's team during the grass-court season, providing both tactical guidance and support as the 24-year-old works his way back from a difficult spell of injuries.

Following the win, Draper spoke positively about Murray's influence, praising the experience and confidence his fellow Brit has brought to the team. Murray's presence has added another layer of belief as Draper looks to rediscover the form that once took him to a career-high ranking inside the world's top five.

Perhaps the most encouraging takeaway was Draper's physical condition. After a series of injury setbacks over the past year, he reported no pain following the match and expressed confidence in his body's ability to handle the demands of competition again.

With Wimbledon just around the corner, the victory offers a timely boost for Draper. While there is still work to be done as he rebuilds match sharpness, his winning return and promising new partnership with Murray provide reasons for optimism heading into the remainder of the grass-court season.
