Francesco Bagnaia is set to undergo further medical evaluation after suffering wrist discomfort following his heavy crash at the Catalan Grand Prix. The Ducati star struggled through the post-race test in Barcelona, raising concerns ahead of his important home race at Mugello.

Francesco Bagnaia’s preparations for the upcoming Mugello Grand Prix have been overshadowed by fresh injury concerns following a difficult weekend at the Catalan Grand Prix.

The reigning MotoGP champion is expected to undergo further medical checks on his left wrist after continuing to experience discomfort following a heavy multi-rider collision in Barcelona involving Johann Zarco and Luca Marini.

Although Bagnaia was cleared to continue after the incident, the Ducati rider later admitted he was left feeling dizzy following the impact to his neck area.

The physical effects of the crash appeared to carry into Monday’s official post-race test session. Bagnaia completed only 23 laps and finished 10th overall, noticeably off the leading pace as he continued to manage pain and discomfort throughout the day.

Speaking after the test, Bagnaia revealed he planned to seek additional medical assessment once back in Italy.

“I might have to check my wrist again on Tuesday when I fly home because I have a feeling something’s not quite right,” he told Sky Italy.

The timing is far from ideal for the Italian rider, with Mugello next on the MotoGP calendar. Widely regarded as one of the most physically demanding circuits of the season, the home race carries added importance for Bagnaia as he looks to maintain momentum in his title defence.

The latest concern also adds to what has been a physically punishing season for Ducati riders. Marc Marquez has already dealt with shoulder complications and a broken foot earlier this year, while Alex Marquez recently suffered fractures following a separate crash. Fabio Di Giannantonio also missed the Barcelona test due to a hand injury sustained during the Catalan weekend.

Despite the setbacks, Bagnaia remains focused on being fully fit for Mugello, with physiotherapy and recovery work expected to play a major role over the coming days.

Ducati will now wait anxiously for further medical results as one of its leading title hopes battles to recover in time for one of the most important races of the season.
