Fresh from his first Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup victory at Mugello, Andrea Iannone has floated the idea of a legends race featuring MotoGP greats Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner. The Italian believes the raw, electronics-free machines could tempt former champions back onto the track.

Andrea Iannone has proposed a unique reunion featuring two of MotoGP's biggest names after claiming victory in the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup at Mugello.

The Italian rider, competing in the championship for the first time, secured a dramatic win in the second race of the weekend after finishing fourth in Race 1 due to a long-lap penalty. The result marked his first race victory since winning in WorldSBK at Aragon in 2024 and completed a successful return to the MotoGP paddock.

Following his breakthrough triumph, Iannone revealed an ambitious idea: bringing MotoGP legends Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi together for a one-off exhibition race aboard Harley-Davidson bagger motorcycles.

The 36-year-old believes the category's stripped-back nature could appeal to riders such as Stoner, who has previously voiced concerns about the increasing level of technology in modern MotoGP machines.

"I think it's possible for Casey to come back with this bike," Iannone said. "We don't have electronics, no winglets, nothing. Casey, I'm waiting for you."

Iannone went a step further by suggesting a special legends event featuring himself, Stoner and Rossi.

"With Casey Stoner, we can do a Legends race. Me, Vale... maybe it's only my crazy idea, but never say never," he said.

The former MotoGP race winner even proposed potential venues, suggesting one race at Australia's Phillip Island circuit and another at Mugello in Italy.

Beyond the light-hearted invitation, Iannone expressed his enjoyment of the new championship. After years of competing in Grand Prix racing and World Superbikes, he has embraced the challenge of racing the powerful Harley-Davidson Road Glide machines.

According to Iannone, the category offers a very different experience from modern MotoGP due to the absence of advanced rider aids and aerodynamic devices.

"It's a beautiful championship. It's fun. A lot of sliding, spinning and wheelies. We don't have electronics," he said.

Iannone admitted he initially struggled to believe he was racing a Harley-Davidson but feels fully integrated into the paddock after claiming victory at Mugello.

The Italian also remains focused on the bigger objective. Despite missing the opening round of the inaugural championship, he believes he can still challenge for the title with eight races remaining.

"We follow the dream," Iannone said.

After a career that has taken him through MotoGP, World Superbikes and now the Bagger World Cup, Iannone says his motivation remains unchanged.

"Motorcycles are the biggest passion in my life," he said. "When I am in the paddock, travelling and riding bikes, this is my life."

Whether Rossi and Stoner take up his invitation remains to be seen, but Iannone's proposal has already sparked plenty of imagination among motorcycle racing fans eager to see some of the sport's most iconic names share a track once again.
