Although both riders will have worn Gresini colours after leaving Honda, the circumstances surrounding their moves are far from identical. Marquez joined the team to answer lingering questions about his own competitiveness, while Mir's decision appears to have been driven more by frustration over Honda's approach and the desire for a fresh start.
The similarities may end with the team colours, but both transfers highlight Gresini's growing reputation as an attractive destination for riders looking to revive their MotoGP careers.
