Jorge Martin has received provisional medical clearance to participate in Friday's opening practice session at the Malaysian Grand Prix, marking a potential return to action following his recent injury at Phillip Island.
The Aprilia rider passed his initial medical assessment with MotoGP medical director Angel Charte on Thursday, allowing him to take part in FP1 at the Sepang International Circuit. However, his participation in the remainder of the weekend is not yet guaranteed, as he will undergo another medical evaluation after the session to determine whether he is fit to continue.
Martin suffered a broken arm in a high-speed crash during Saturday's sprint race at the Australian Grand Prix, forcing him to miss the remainder of the weekend. The injury came at a crucial stage of the championship, with the Spaniard fighting to close the gap to Francesco Bagnaia in the title race.

With just 10 points separating the two riders, Martin's return could prove important to his championship campaign. However, his physical condition remains a major concern, particularly given the demands of the Sepang circuit and the limited recovery time since his crash.
Meanwhile, Aprilia's injury concerns extend to Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez, who is also attempting to return this weekend despite a broken finger. Fernandez passed his initial medical checks and has likewise been cleared to participate in FP1.
The Spaniard acknowledged the risk of aggravating his injury but is determined to get back on track. Like Martin, he will need further assessment after the opening practice session before receiving final clearance for the rest of the weekend.
Both riders will be closely monitored throughout Friday as they look to prove their fitness. Their participation in the remaining sessions, including Saturday's qualifying and sprint race, as well as Sunday's main event, will depend on the outcome of their medical evaluations.
