Police Respond to Reports of Men Carrying Bow and Arrows

Newcastle United defender Amar Dedic was involved in a significant police response in rural Northumberland on Wednesday afternoon after members of the public reported seeing two men carrying a bow and arrows.

Armed response officers were among at least six police vehicles sent to a reservoir near Military Road in the Harlow Hill area. The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international was reportedly walking with a friend when they were spotted with the archery equipment.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and former Magpies defender Paul Dummett happened to be in the area and stopped to offer assistance as the police operation unfolded.

Northumbria Police Confirm Equipment Was Seized

Northumbria Police later confirmed that officers had responded to the report and stopped a vehicle in the Darras Hall area, where they seized a bow and arrows. The force clarified that there was no immediate threat to the public and that the equipment was believed to be intended for recreational use. Both men were allowed to leave following questioning.

A police spokesperson explained that officers received the report shortly after 1.55pm on Wednesday, involving two men carrying archery equipment along a track beside the reservoir. Although the equipment was confiscated, police confirmed that enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

Dedic Not Expected to Face Newcastle Disciplinary Action

Dedic joined Newcastle United from Benfica this summer in a £29.5 million transfer, reuniting with his former Red Bull Salzburg manager Matthias Jaissle.

The Bosnian right-back made his debut in Newcastle's 2-2 draw against Liverpool on the opening day of the Premier League season. He then provided two assists in a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over West Brom, helping establish himself as a regular starter.

The 31-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international also featured in Newcastle's 1-0 defeat to Everton last weekend. Despite the police incident, Dedic is understood to be unlikely to face any internal disciplinary action from the club.
