The Unseen Star: Bearman's Netflix Nixed Footage
It turns out even rising stars like Oliver Bearman aren't immune to the cutting room floor. The Haas F1 prodigy recently shared a candid anecdote on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Greg James, revealing a peculiar relationship with the omnipresent Netflix Drive to Survive crew.
According to Bearman, he dedicated "about three or four days of filming" to the acclaimed docuseries, expecting to see his journey documented. However, he joked that he's "never seen a single second of it," adding with a laugh, "Straight in the bin."
This revelation offers a fascinating peek behind the curtain of Formula 1's most popular behind-the-scenes show. While Drive to Survive aims to capture every angle, it seems even compelling narratives from emerging talents don't always make the final cut.
Haas F1 Future: Bearman's Ambitious Outlook
Beyond the Netflix drama, Oliver Bearman is laser-focused on his F1 career. He's currently gearing up for his crucial second season with Haas, aiming to build on a promising rookie year where he finished 13th in the drivers' standings with 41 points, notably outperforming his experienced teammate Esteban Ocon by two positions.
Tackling the 2026 Regulation Revolution
The young Brit isn't shying away from the monumental changes looming in 2026. The upcoming season will usher in significant regulation overhauls, creating an environment of both opportunity and uncertainty across the grid.
"It’s impossible to gauge where we’re going to be right now," Bearman admitted during pre-season testing. While he sees "everything positive" from the Haas team, he acknowledges the unknown competitive landscape. He anticipates that "reliability is going to be playing a big factor" early on, with teams and drivers prone to errors under the new rules.
This blend of excitement and apprehension defines his approach to 2026. "That lack of knowledge heading into 2026 is good and bad," he explained. He feels Haas can "really have an impact straight away," but also finds it "horrible not knowing" where they stand. One thing is certain: Bearman is committed to "giving it everything to make sure that where we are is as high up as possible."
