Malaysia’s Pearly Tan and M Thinaah returned to the top of the podium with a convincing victory at the Denmark Open, defeating Japan’s Hinata Suzuki and Nao Yamakita 21-18, 21-11 in the women’s doubles final in Odense.
The world No. 5 Malaysians faced a competitive opening game before taking control in the second to seal the title in straight games at the SJF Bank Arena. Their performance highlighted their ability to handle pressure and maintain their attacking intensity when it mattered most.
The triumph marks an important milestone for Pearly and Thinaah, who have been seeking another major title since winning the Indonesia Masters earlier this year. Their Denmark Open success provides a valuable boost in confidence as they continue their campaign on the international circuit.
The victory is also significant for Malaysian badminton history. Pearly and Thinaah have become the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to win the Denmark Open in nearly two decades. Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui were the last Malaysian duo to claim the title, achieving the feat in 2008.
For Pearly and Thinaah, the result rewards their continued efforts to remain competitive against the world’s leading pairs. Winning a prestigious World Tour event also strengthens their position as one of Malaysia’s key hopes in women’s doubles.
With the season continuing, the Denmark Open crown could provide the momentum the pair need to pursue further success. Their latest achievement has ended Malaysia’s long wait for a women’s doubles champion at the tournament and given the country another reason to celebrate on the badminton stage.
