Yamaha MotoGP Team showed signs of progress during the post-race test at the Jerez MotoGP Test, but key questions over performance remain unresolved according to Fabio Quartararo.
After months of frustration, Quartararo acknowledged a noticeable improvement in front-end feeling, an area that has troubled Yamaha since its transition to a V4 engine. The French rider has repeatedly pointed to a lack of front-end confidence as a major limitation, making this development an important step forward.
Yamaha introduced a wide range of updates at Jerez, including a revised chassis, swingarm, aerodynamic components, and electronics. Among the changes, a previous-spec fairing design appeared to play a key role in restoring some of the feedback Quartararo had been missing.

Despite the improved sensation, lap time gains were limited. Quartararo stressed that while the bike felt better to ride, the overall performance improvement was not yet significant. For now, the focus remains on rebuilding confidence at the front, which is essential to his riding style.
The test also highlighted ongoing challenges with electronics. Quartararo revealed that one particular adjustment, initially expected to reduce performance, unexpectedly improved his feeling on the bike. This suggests that further refinement is needed to fully unlock the potential of Yamaha’s current package.
Looking ahead to the French Grand Prix, Quartararo remains cautious. While the improved front-end feedback is encouraging, he has downplayed expectations for immediate results at his home race.
Yamaha’s progress at Jerez indicates that development is moving in the right direction, but the gap to the front of the field remains. For Quartararo and the team, the challenge now is to convert improved feeling into consistent performance.
