Raúl Fernández bounced back from a costly Sprint crash to dominate Sunday’s British GP, turning his frustration into a second MotoGP victory.

Raúl Fernández produced one of the biggest turnarounds of the British Grand Prix weekend, turning the disappointment of a costly Sprint crash into a commanding victory at Silverstone on Sunday.

The Trackhouse Racing rider had started Saturday’s Sprint from the front row, but a poor launch was followed by a crash on the fourth lap that ended his race. The result was particularly frustrating as Aprilia riders went on to occupy all three podium positions.

Fernández admitted he was highly critical of himself after the mistake, describing it as a moment when his frustration could easily have carried into Sunday’s main race.

“What did I say to myself [after the crash]? That you are an idiot,” Fernández recalled.

The Spaniard knew he needed to reset quickly. Sunday morning’s warm-up became an important opportunity to regain his focus, understand the limits of the Michelin tyres and put the Sprint disappointment behind him.

That mental reset appeared to work.

Fernández launched strongly in the Grand Prix and immediately took control of the race. He gradually extended his advantage at the front before crossing the finish line more than 2.5 seconds clear of factory Aprilia rider Jorge Martin.

The victory was Fernández’s second in the premier class and his first of the 2026 season, giving his championship campaign a major boost.

He also credited Trackhouse team principal Davide Brivio for helping him turn his frustration into something positive. Fernández suggested that uncertainty surrounding the choice of a soft rear tyre for Saturday’s Sprint had contributed to the difficult outcome, but the team helped him move past the disappointment.

“When I have this kind of frustration, the team gives me something that to change into good energy,” Fernández explained.

Rather than allowing Saturday’s mistake to affect his confidence, Fernández used it as motivation to deliver a much stronger performance the following day.

His Silverstone victory therefore meant more than simply adding another win to his record. After one of his most frustrating moments of the weekend, Fernández responded with a composed and dominant performance that underlined his potential at the front of the MotoGP field.

With his first win of the season now secured, the Trackhouse rider has also given his 2026 championship hopes a significant boost.
